CCD PROGRAM (Grades K – 8)
I hope that in the midst of summer you are making time for rest and relaxation! However, time passes quickly and so very soon your children will be returning to school. Here at St. Stanislaus, as we celebrate our 125th Anniversary this year, not only are we getting ready for another school year for our elementary school (st.stanislaus.mec.edu), but we are also gearing up our Religious Education Program for children from Kindergarten to 8th Grade. As pastor I consider our Religious Education Program to be of the greatest importance and I am committed to making our program the best.
Just as summertime passes by very quickly, so does the time when our children need to learn about Jesus and the love that He has for them. This foundation in faith will help them for a life time of summers. As parents you have an awesome responsibility in teaching your child and indeed you are their first and best teachers. As you rely on others to help you in teaching them their academic subjects we are here to help you teach them about the things of God. To do that we have a group of dedicated Religious Education Catechists who love our Lord and want to share Him and His teachings with your child(ren).
Whether your child was in our program last year or has never been in our program he or she is most welcome to join our classes. Below is a link to the 2016-17 calendar. Classes are held on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and begin on September 10th. For your child(ren) to participate you will need to submit the enclosed yellow registration form by August 15th. It is a two-part form so be sure to fill out both parts. If your child is new to the program you will also need to submit a copy of his/her baptismal certificate if your child was not baptized at St. Stan’s.
The fees are the same again this year: One child – $45; Two children – $80; three or more children – $100. The non-parishioner fee is $95 per child. If you register by August 1st the fee is $10 less per child. If cost is an issue contact me so we can make it possible for your child to come to classes.
You may mail the forms to: Religious Education Office – 40 Cyman Drive – Chicopee, MA 01013 or drop off them off at the office (Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.). The August 15 registration deadline is important for us so we can order all the necessary supplies and books in time for the first day of class as well as determine class size and catechist assignments. We hope to see your child in September!
May our Lord Jesus bless you,
Fr. Joseph Benicewicz, OFM Conv., Pastor
Fr. Michael Englert OFM Conv., Parochial Vicar/Moderator of Religious Education

Our Catholic Faith is a life long journey and we cannot make it on our own. Jesus knows this, which is why He said to His apostles and to us, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Consoler to be with you always, the Spirit of truth” who “remains in you” (John 14:16). St. Paul realized the reality of the Holy Spirit within him when he wrote: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13). What a gift it is to know that we can have the Holy Spirit perfectly poured out onto us in the Sacrament of Confirmation in order to direct us, strengthen us, and console us throughout our life and that we will never be left alone unless the Powerful Gift is refused by our own permission and neglect.
Our Parish has a two-year preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Youth from the parish begin the program in 9th grade and continue throughout their sophomore year. Students will also participate in an annual Confirmation Retreat preceding the actual day of their Confirmation which is usually in October or November.
Confirmation students meet twice a month on the first two Thursdays of the month (October to May) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Students meet with a catechist in a small group that allows for much interaction and a personal approach to the catechesis. For a complete understanding of the requirements of the Confirmation Program please review the Personal Inscription document.
Bishop Rozanski will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation this year at St. Stanislaus on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the 6 p.m. Mass.
